The economic performance of all municipalities and regions in Netherlands has been compared for the 21st time by EW (Elsevier) and Bureau Louter. Despite the corona crisis, Haarlemmermeer (Amsterdam Airport City) is the top location of 2021.
If there is one place that was hit hard economically by the corona pandemic last year, it is Amsterdam Airport City. Amsterdam Airport City, ideally located in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, is the international face of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. Corona measures largely shut down air traffic at Schiphol. Nevertheless, the municipality is the number 1 in Top locations 2021, not for the first time. With a score of 8.62, it has a reasonable lead over Den Bosch (8.30) and Rotterdam (8.28).
The research Top locations by EW (Elsevier) and Bureau Louter annually examines the local economy of the Netherlands and in all three assessed sub-areas – industry and logistics, business services and services to people – the municipality consistently belongs to the top 20. Schiphol remains of great value to the municipality because much of the activity is linked to this.
